Baseball Saskatoon to receive proceeds from Berries 50/50

Saskatoon, SK — The Saskatoon Berries of the Western Canadian Baseball League are proud to announce a new partnership with Baseball Saskatoon for the upcoming 2024 baseball season.

The Saskatoon Berries will be the presenting sponsor of the Rally Cap U7 and U9 divisions, which will now be renamed as the U7 Junior Berries and U9 Junior Berries divisions. This partnership will also include the Zone 5 North and South divisions.

“The U7 and U9 Divisions are beginning their journey to learn the FUNdamentals and fall in love with the game of baseball. We couldn’t be happier to name these divisions the Jr. Berries and have our players wear the same logo as the big guys in the WCBL," said Baseball Saskatoon President, John Pohve.

As part of the partnership, the Saskatoon Berries will be providing uniforms for all U7 and U9 players this season in the Junior Berries divisions. Baseball Saskatoon will also receive additional funding through the Saskatoon Berries game day 50/50 raffle. Contributions will go directly towards helping Baseball Saskatoon grow and provide quality programs for youth in the community.

“We are very grateful for the financial support for our organization with proceeds from 50/50 draws on game day along with jerseys for our youngest players,” added Pohve.

The Saskatoon Berries are excited to grow the sport and contribute to the community, while taking strides in making baseball more accessible for children from all walks of life. Local support and interest from youth will help ensure the Berries' long-term success in Saskatoon.

“We want the kids, the community, and our players to be proud of what we are building, and I think this partnership is a great way to develop that connection,” said Saskatoon Berries President Steve Hildebrand. “Baseball is a special game and we feel it’s our obligation to do everything we can to make baseball enjoyable for everyone.”

The Junior Berries division will begin play this week for the 2024 season, while the Saskatoon Berries of the WCBL will open on the road in Regina on May 25th. The Berries inaugural home opener will take place on Tuesday, May 28th, at the NexGen Patch at Cairns Field. Single game tickets will go on sale Wednesday, May 10th at 10:00am.
