Joe Carnahan

Head Coach - Joe Carnahan

Joe brings a wealth of experience after 20 years of being involved with the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL).

Joe played with the Swift Current 57’s on the team’s 2001, 2005, and 2006 championship squads in the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL), the predecessor of the WCBL.

In 2002 and 2004 he was named the league’s regular-season most valuable player. He claimed playoff MVP honours in 2001 and 2005. It was during this time that he was named an All-Star five times in seven seasons.

Joe then took over as Swift Current’s head coach in 2007 and built championship teams in 2010, 2016, and 2017. He was voted Coach of the Year four times. 

Andrew Albers

Pitching Coach - Andrew Albers

Andrew grew up in North Battleford, SK and played all of his minor ball in Saskatchewan, playing for the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets in 2004. 

He attended the University of Kentucky from 2004-2008 and was drafted in the 10th round of the MLB Draft in 2008 by the San Diego Padres. After being released by the Padres and playing for a season with the Quebec Capitales, he was signed with the MLB's Minnesota Twins in 2011.  Making his MLB debut on August 6, 2013 against the Kansas City Royals, he threw 8 1/3 scoreless innings, followed by a complete game shutout over the Cleaveland Indians. 

After being released by the Minnesota Twins, Andrew played in Korea in 2014, with additional stints in the MLB with the Minnesota Twins (2016, 2021), the Toronto Blue Jays (2015), and the Seattle Mariners (2017).

He spent three seasons in Japan in the Nippon Professional League (2018-2020), and has been a part of Canada's senior men's national team on 11 different occasions, including three World Baseball Classics.

He coaches at the Going Yard Academy in Saskatoon as well as periodically with Canada’s U18 junior national team. This will be his first year as pitching coach in the WCBL with the Berries. 

Chance Wheatley

Assistant Coach - Chance Wheatley

I grew up in Bawlf, Alberta, and played my minor baseball for the Spruce Grove White Sox. I played collegiately at Prairie Baseball Academy and for the Yorkton Cardinals in the WCBL in 2016 and 2017.

After my playing career, I became an assistant coach at Prairie Baseball Academy. In 2019, I joined the Lethbridge Bulls as an assistant coach and took over as head coach from 2021 to 2023, leading the team to a WCBL championship in 2021. I became the head coach of the Lethbridge Longhorns Baseball Academy in 2022, where I coached from 2022-2024.

Assistant Coach - Alex Archuleta

Alex grew up in Evansville, Indiana where he lettered in baseball at North High School. 

He attended the University of Southern Indiana, playing for the Screaming Eagles. After a four year stint with the Screaming Eagles, he finished his career in 2023 with a .220 batting average, scored 26 career runs and 15 career RBIs. 

Fresh out of university, he joins the Saskatoon Berries in their inaugural season as assistant coach to bring his skills and knowledge to his new team.
